The Waiting Game

We haven't written much as there isn't much to tell at this point.  We are awaiting the publisher's review of our book.  In the meantime, we have come up with so many other story ideas that we hardly know which one to pick.

One publisher is putting out a call for Historical Romance (Christian, of course) that we thought we would pull out an old manuscript and dust it off.  We were surprised to find that we are half way done with the book (written about 10 years ago) so we are probably going to go with it.

While I am spending quiet days at home, I am going to pour my effort into getting it as nearly finished as I can with the hopes that we can send the query letter sometime in late October.  Stay tuned because we will be posting our "Call Story" here first.

Love,

Contemplation From A Hotel Room

We are in Harrisonville, Virginia, a place we chose randomly to stay while we completed the final draft of our book before submitting it to the editor who requested it.

We are laughing at the funny stuff, crying at the sad stuff and shaking our heads that this phase of the project is almost over.

We think it is a great book.  Most writers think their book is a great book, soooooo is our book really that great?  We don't know because we a too close to it.  That is why we need the opinions, the honest opinions of others to help us out with some perspective.

I posted chapter one under a page tab.  You are invited to take a look and to honestly tell us what you think.  Yes, we really want to know.  Will this book sell?  Is the writing easy? Readable?  Tell us what you think.  This is your opportunity to help new writers with their first piece of work.

Enjoy.

Holding My Baby For The First Time

After another rigorous revision, we have printed out the book and are holding it in our hands for the first time.  It really is real.  It is a book, and we are feeling very optimistic at this time.  As many of you know, this is a dream come true for both of us that we have had for at least 30 years and shared for the last 10 as some of you will attest to.  In fact, several of our friends have responded to our excitment with "It's about time!"  (Smiling shyly here.)

We crave your prayers.  We will be submitting our manuscript on Tuesday.  This weekend we are hiding away in the mountains to do our final revision before submission.  Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we work so that we can produce something that is sellable!  We have a good feeling about it, but we are still working with a lot of unknowns.

I will be posting the first chapter in a few days (after this last revision) so stay tuned. We do want to know what you think. Let our publisher know you want a copy of this book if it is published.

Check in with a comment just so I know you are reading. We would love to hear from you.

Too Excited For Words!!!

Hi Everyone:

Just wanted to let you know we survived an earthquake, a wicked storm and a hurricane all in the same week.  But none of that excitement compares with my news.

Our very favorite publisher has requested the full manuscript of our book!!!!!  This is huge.  We sent in just a letter summarizing the book and our writing experiences.  Typically, most of these letters get deposited into a slush pile and very few brand new writers get an invitation to submit a manuscript.

Today we received a request to submit the whole work.  In other words we have their attention.  Please oh please pray that they will like what they see.  If so, the next step is that they will offer to purchase it.

We will keep you informed.

Sarah's Blessing

Our book is finished, (huge sigh of relief inserted here.) We are finishing our last draft of it.  All we need to do now is to do one more review of the whole work to see if anything else needs to be nudged.  So when we receive the request to "submit manuscript" (silent prayer going up here) we will just have to push the print button.

We are up to 61,200 words and about 260 pages.  When we first sat down to write, we were afraid that we wouldn't be able to come up with 1,000 words for our story... Several weeks later we are scratching our heads and asking... um did we over do it?  It's actually a really good feeling.

I want to print a couple of copies out just so I can feel it.  Jack says wait.  Haven't you ever wanted to sleep with something that is very precious to you..... hmmm?  Well except for your spouse of course.

We sent a query letter out on July 7 to our favorite publisher and we have our fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that we will hear from them soon! Send a prayer up for us if you get a minute and think about it.

I will post, soon, a synopsis to the book for your reading enjoyment.  Tune in as I keep you updated on our progress!!!
